La Liga Team’s Plea: Demolish Our Stadium!
Raúl Martín Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, declared a state of emergency, emphasizing that the Madrid-based club urgently needs a new stadium.
According to “Varzesh3,” the president of Rayo Vallecano has repeatedly spoken about the team’s need for a new stadium this season and has now addressed the issue again in another interview. He said: “We need a new stadium, I’ve said this eighty times.” He expressed the club’s dissatisfaction and stated that the current situation is “unbearable.”
He revealed that Friday’s match against Getafe (which ended 1-0) was “close to being canceled due to a problem with the wall of one of the stands.” Speaking to Movistar Plus, he said: “I’ve said this eighty times: we need a new stadium. This is essential for the club’s survival. Our current situation is unsustainable. We fill the stadium’s capacity every day and have no room to grow.”
He continued: “The match was nearly canceled due to wall issues, there’s humidity in the stadium’s police room, and this situation is a constant torment. This stadium is very old. The local Madrid government is helping; the cultural advisor came here despite official holidays, entered unsuitable places in a suit, climbed the roof, and it’s only thanks to such interventions that matches are still being held. The local government head and this advisor are fully aware of the situation, and the only solution is building a new stadium.”
