Conceicao Is Not to Blame
Legendary Coach Reveals AC Milan’s Biggest Problem
Arrigo Sacchi believes AC Milan has a managerial problem and that the team’s decline in Serie A is not primarily due to the coaching staff.
According to reports, AC Milan has not had a strong season in Serie A but managed to win the Supercoppa Italiana and now faces the Coppa Italia final. Ahead of this crucial match against Bologna, Arrigo Sacchi shared his thoughts on Milan’s season: “When a club lacks history, vision, merit, and a clear style, problems are inevitable. These aspects come before the team. The club is the foundation. Without these elements, issues are unavoidable.”
So the problem lies more with the club’s management than the coach? “Exactly. A good club builds a good team, not the other way around.”
Let’s talk about the Coppa Italia. Who do you see as the favorite between AC Milan and Bologna? “It’s a tough question. I’m no longer part of the system, but if AC Milan had a club at its level—with clear ideas and properly selected players—it could rise again. However, cohesion and coordination are needed. You can’t say you want a creative playmaker and then sign a player with different characteristics. Ideas must be few but clear.”
