Luis Diaz:
I want to stay at Liverpool as long as possible
Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has confirmed he wants to stay at the club for a longer period.
According to reports, Luis Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in 2022, still has two years left on his contract, but negotiations to extend the player’s deal are on the club’s agenda.
He turned 28 this January, and while there have been rumors about Barcelona and Saudi clubs’ interest in signing him, some sources have suggested the possibility of his departure from Liverpool this summer.
However, Diaz emphasized his desire to continue at Liverpool in an interview with Telemundo Deportes. He said about his time at Liverpool: “From the first day I arrived here, I have always been happy, calm, and enjoyed playing football for this great team. We will talk about extending the contract. We will certainly discuss it.
From my side, I am willing to stay here for as many years as needed. Of course, this also depends on the club; everything has details that will be examined separately. I am very calm, happy to be at Liverpool, and I enjoy the Premier League.”
Although these statements indicate Diaz’s desire to stay, they do not completely rule out the possibility of his transfer in the upcoming transfer window, as the final decision will depend on Liverpool’s stance on the player’s future.
Some reports claim that Diaz is one of the lowest-paid players in Liverpool’s starting lineup, with a weekly wage of around €70,000.
