Millions in Profit for Champions League Finalist
UEFA has allocated significant bonuses for Champions League finalists, and Barcelona’s advancement to the final could improve their financial situation.
Barcelona has already earned €116.563 million from their participation in this season’s Champions League. While sponsorship and broadcasting revenue are yet to be fully accounted for, Mundo Deportivo reports that the club’s total earnings from this season could exceed the €117.730 million record set in the 2018-19 season.
UEFA has allocated €18.5 million for each finalist. The team that wins the final on May 31 in Munich will receive an additional €6.5 million, along with €4 million for participating in the UEFA Super Cup on August 13 in Udine. The Super Cup winner will earn an extra €1 million.
The €116.563 million Barcelona has earned so far is distributed as follows: Like all 36 teams in the group stage, Barcelona received €18.62 million for participation. They earned €2.1 million for each of their six wins and €0.7 million for a draw. Additionally, the club received €665,000 as a surplus share.
Advancing to the round of 16 added €11 million, reaching the quarter-finals brought €12.5 million, and making the semi-finals secured another €15 million.
Barcelona typically budgets for a quarter-final finish in the Champions League, so reaching the semi-finals represents additional profit, especially considering the significant revenue from ticket sales for their home leg against Inter at Montjuïc.
