New Documents Discovered in Suspicious Death Case of Diego Maradona
The Buenos Aires Provincial Police seized over 300 medical documents, lab reports, and more than 500 emails related to the case of Diego Armando Maradona’s death.
According to reports, the Buenos Aires Provincial Police confiscated approximately 300 pages of medical records, lab tests, and 547 emails exchanged between the doctors under investigation during a raid on the Olivos clinic, where Maradona was hospitalized before his death. The court stated that the purpose of the inspection was to obtain electronic records, whether in paper or digital form, related to Maradona’s treatment and hospitalization between November 3 and November 11, 2020, as there is evidence against the defendants that has not been presented in the case.
Maradona, the Argentine football legend, was admitted to the Olivos clinic during this period for treatment of a subdural hematoma in his head. He passed away two weeks after being discharged, on November 25, 2020, while under home care.
During the raid, police officers spoke with the clinic’s medical director, Juan Molinos, the clinic manager, Pablo Castillo, and Gabriel Ravinovich, the legal representative of the clinic’s owner, Swiss Medical. The three individuals granted access to the clinic’s computer systems, confirming the existence of documents deemed “relevant and significant to the ongoing investigation” by the police.
The operation was carried out under the order of the Third Criminal Court (TOC) of San Isidro and at the request of Deputy Attorney General Patricio Ferrari, who oversees five complainants and six of the seven defense lawyers in the case. The decision to conduct the raid was made after a witness submitted clinical analyses to the court that had not been included in the case file.
