Opponent Fans Invade Stamford Bridge Ahead of Chelsea’s Conference League Semi-Final!
Fans of Djurgårdens IF, Chelsea’s opponents in the Conference League semi-finals, bypassed security and entered the VIP section of Stamford Bridge.
Around 100 Djurgårdens fans managed to breach stadium regulations and, after passing through the section reserved for Chelsea supporters, reached the VIP area. Additionally, more than 1,000 Swedish fans gathered in different sections of the West Stand, typically one of the most expensive areas for home fans.
Before the match began, Metropolitan Police officers lined up Djurgårdens fans outside the entrance gates, allowing them to move toward the doors only in small groups.
However, about half an hour before kickoff, Djurgårdens fans who had entered the home section were seen jumping over or crawling under the blue nets separating the two fan groups.
When the match began, Djurgårdens supporters in the home and VIP stands collectively stood up and chanted, “F*** Chelsea.”
By halftime, security presence in that section of the stadium increased, and fans were separated. In the away section, riot police were deployed to prevent further fan movement.
