Raphinha: I should have scored 5 goals instead of 2!
Raphinha said after Barcelona’s victory in El Clásico that if he had been more precise, he could have scored three more goals against Real Madrid.
Raphinha and Fermín López praised Barcelona’s winning mentality after El Clásico and congratulated the fans on the victory and being one step closer to the title.
Part of Raphinha’s comments to reporters drew attention. He said he was not completely satisfied with scoring a brace against Real Madrid because he had more opportunities that he should not have missed.
Raphinha, who scored two goals in Barcelona’s 4-3 victory, said after the match: “We came to win as always during the season, and we won. We won important matches as well as those that seemed insignificant to many. Another El Clásico that we knew was very important. A team that makes a comeback shows how calm and confident they are. Scoring so many goals in El Clásico is tough. But our style of play, as well as Real Madrid’s, creates many scoring opportunities. The game could have been easier in the final minutes because we missed many chances. But we defended well, which is important. I could have scored more than two goals. I missed three good chances that I really shouldn’t have. I have high expectations of myself, and I admit I missed many opportunities.”
Fermín López, who came on as a substitute in the second half and had Barcelona’s fifth goal disallowed for a handball, said: “Our team’s mentality is a winning one. The result doesn’t matter to us. We just want to win and score goals. People ask why I celebrate so passionately? I always celebrate with great energy when the team scores. The important thing is that we are one step closer to the title. Real Madrid is always a big rival. We were better in El Clásico this season, but there are still a few matches left, and our goal is to secure the title as soon as possible.”
