They are wounded
Real Madrid wants revenge against us in El Clasico!
Real Madrid returns to action today against Celta Vigo in their first match after the Copa del Rey final defeat.
According to reports, this match will be decisive for Los Blancos, whose only hope for silverware this season is La Liga. With Barcelona leading the table by seven points, every game is crucial for Real Madrid.
Facing Celta Vigo at this stage is no easy task, as the Galician team has been in excellent form this season. Last month, they came close to defeating Barcelona.
Celta Vigo’s coach, Claudio Giráldez, spoke to the media about the upcoming match against Real Madrid and his expectations.
He said: “This is our third match against them this year. We are aware of Real Madrid’s high potential and know that if we are not flawless, we will have no chance. They are wounded after failing to win the Copa del Rey.”
Giráldez added: “We must stay focused, play with character and courage, and perform well in both halves. This is crucial against a team with such talent and ability to strike suddenly.”
He then explained how today’s match will differ from the recent Copa del Rey encounter: “Here, there are only 90 minutes—less time than in the Copa del Rey. In that match, when we defended well, we could compete, but when we didn’t, we struggled. Additionally, we must maintain possession, stay in their half, and force them to chase the ball.”
Never underestimate Real Madrid. Giráldez emphasized that regardless of their current form, Real Madrid cannot be underestimated, stating that speculation about their failures has been exaggerated.
He said: “Real Madrid is always very strong. If they had won the final, we would say they come with confidence. Now that they lost, they are wounded and motivated for revenge, which can be dangerous. They are one of the best teams in the world. This season, they have won two trophies, finished runners-up in two competitions, reached the Champions League quarter-finals, and are fighting for La Liga. They are always tough opponents.”
Celta’s strategy for victory: “There are different ways to compete against any team. We know our way. We must have as much possession as possible, although in matches like the one against Barça, we couldn’t perform as we wanted. We are aware of their potential in quick transitions and set-pieces. They also cause significant damage from set-pieces. To win, we must work twice as hard.”
