According to reports, the two Manchester United legends officially took ownership of the League Two club last week. Neville, along with former teammates such as Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes, initially purchased Salford in 2014, but the original group of owners has now transferred their shares.

Following changes behind the scenes, decisions have also been made regarding on-field changes. After finishing eighth in League Two, Salford City has released 17 first-team players.

One player who has been given another chance to stay is Matty Lund. The midfielder joined the club in 2021 and has made 120 league appearances. Since October last year, he has also taken on a player-coach role.

Among the players leaving at the end of their contracts are Conor McAleny, Liam Shephard, and Ryan Watson. Meanwhile, Salford has decided to retain Ossama Ashley, the Fans’ Player of the Year. The young midfielder developed in the academies of Fulham and Wimbledon before joining West Ham in 2020. However, he never played for West Ham’s first team and later moved to Colchester United before joining Salford in 2023.

Contracts for Haji Mnoga, formerly of Portsmouth, and Luke Garbutt, a former Everton prospect, have also been extended.
