I Won’t Retire from Football Anytime Soon
Romelu Lukaku Wants Trophies: Goal Statistics Don’t Matter
Romelu Lukaku says he has no plans to retire anytime soon. He also promised fans that Napoli still has a strong chance to win the title this season.
According to reports, Romelu Lukaku spoke to FIFA’s website about scoring his 400th career goal and stated that Napoli has no intention of surrendering the title to Inter Milan, vowing to fight until the end.
Lukaku said in the interview: “Four hundred goals is a great achievement. I want to enjoy every goal I score from now on. Let’s see what happens. I can’t say how many goals I’ll score before retirement. But one thing is certain—the more experience a striker gains, the better they understand the game, and I think that makes scoring easier.”
The Belgian star of Napoli added: “I don’t just want to increase my goal tally. If my goals help my team win trophies, then I’ll be happy. Because everything depends on winning, and statistics mean little in football. You have to win titles.”
When asked about his dreams, Lukaku replied: “I don’t have the same dreams as when I was young. My dream now is to stay fit and healthy. What matters to me is playing at the highest level for as long as possible and winning. This incredible sport has given me and my family everything, and I don’t want to retire while I still can. As for this season, it’s not true that we’ve given up. We’ll fight until the end, and I don’t think the title is out of reach.”
