Ronald Araujo:
I Promise This Barcelona Will Win Multiple Champions League Titles
Ronald Araujo believes Barcelona’s talented generation will win the UEFA Champions League multiple times.
Barcelona’s 4-3 defeat against Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals ended their hopes of reaching the final and dashed Hansi Flick’s dream of a treble.
Araujo, after the bitter loss to Inter, told reporters: “We are truly disappointed. We performed very well in the Champions League, came very close to winning it, but it slipped away. It’s heartbreaking. In the end, such matches are decided by small details. We made mistakes and fell short. I don’t think this will affect us. It was a heavy blow, but this team has an incredible mentality, and we will fight to win La Liga.”
He also spoke about Flick’s post-match comments and the team’s defensive weaknesses: “He told us he is very proud of this team and that we will fight again next year to win the Champions League. We conceded many goals. We fought. We were a team the fans loved, but we need to review those moments. As I said, I want to thank those who came and supported us and believed in the team.”
When asked if he felt responsible for the last two goals, Araujo responded with frustration: “Do you think I’m not committed enough to my team? In the first goal, I was marking the player from the front, and in the second goal, it’s football, and coverages also play a role.”
He concluded optimistically: “This generation will win the Champions League multiple times because it has talented players.”
