However, The Telegraph claims that the midfielder prefers to stay in the Premier League for another season and continue playing for Newcastle United to maintain his strong form in top-level European football.

It is said that the former AC Milan player is grateful to Newcastle for standing by him during his betting-related suspension and therefore intends to stay with them for at least one more season.
