If I Were in Amorim’s Place, United Would Win More!

Sean Dyche, the English manager, claims that with his style at Manchester United, he would have been more successful than Rúben Amorim.

According to reports, Manchester United intends to continue working with Amorim, with the goal of finishing in the top six next season. Dyche believes that the Portuguese manager is under immense pressure to win and must start earning points soon if he wants to keep his job.

Dyche insists that he could lift Manchester United higher in the Premier League table simply by implementing his own style. United currently sits in 16th place with only 10 wins from 36 matches this season, though they could still unexpectedly secure a Champions League spot by defeating Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Dyche said on Stick to Football: “Amorim needs to win a few games, and he needs to do it quickly. I think if I were in his place and implemented my style, we would win more games. Just a simple 4-4-2. Teach the players the basics. They have good players. You don’t need to overcomplicate things. What’s interesting is whether he can stick to his principles in the long run so that next season everyone says: Well done! But he’s been there for a while now, so he better start winning soon.”

“Howard Wilkinson once said: First win, then endure, then succeed. Essentially, you have to win first, then because you’re winning, you can endure, and success is where you can fully implement your principles and style. So if Amorim can win enough, endure, and then succeed, things will get better.”

“People remember Pep Guardiola. The first time he came here, Manchester City finished the season 13 points behind the league leaders. Pep made more tactical and individual changes that season than any other manager in the Premier League. If he had done the same at Real Madrid, he probably would have been fired. Even with all his knowledge and being an incredible manager, with all the principles and great players he brought in, it took him a season to find his way. The point is, if Amorim becomes something like that, they must say: They gave him time.”
