Sergio Busquets’ Honest Admission:
‘Even with Messi, We’re Not at Club World Cup Level’
The Barcelona legend, who now plays for Inter Miami, believes his team is not at the level to compete with the world’s best clubs, even with the Argentine superstar.
Sergio Busquets, the key player for Inter Miami, spoke about his team’s chances in the upcoming Club World Cup, which begins on June 14 in the United States and concludes a month later.
The former Barcelona midfielder shared his thoughts during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. He was candid and pessimistic about his team’s chances but promised they would fight until the end, even if they are not at the required level.
Busquets said: “It’s clear that even with Messi, we are not at the level to compete in the Club World Cup. But we will try to compete in the group, take it game by game, fight, and hope to advance to the next stage, although it will be very difficult.”
He made this prediction just over a month before the tournament begins.
It is worth noting that Inter Miami recently missed out on advancing to the CONCACAF Champions League final but is performing relatively well in the MLS.
