Rangers Seeking Reunion
Steven Gerrard’s Dream Return to Rangers!
Rangers’ management has included Steven Gerrard in the list of potential managers for the next season.
According to reports, Rangers terminated their contract with Belgian coach Philippe Clement in February after a 2-0 defeat against St. Mirren. Following Gerrard’s departure from Saudi club Al-Ettifaq in January, rumors of his return to his former club emerged. However, the Scottish club later announced that Barry Ferguson would serve as interim manager until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Rangers, who fell behind their arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, have intensified their search for a permanent manager. Reports suggest that Gerrard remains a strong candidate under consideration.
Other names being considered include Gary O’Neil (former Wolverhampton manager), Rob Edwards (former Luton Town manager), and Russell Martin, who previously played for Rangers on loan and later managed teams like MK Dons, Swansea, and Southampton.
Currently, no final decision has been made, and Rangers’ management intends to carefully evaluate all options before making a choice. It is worth noting that Gerrard managed Rangers between 2018 and 2021, leading them to the Scottish Premiership title in his final season. The team he built also reached the UEFA Europa League final the following season.
