Sunflower Seeds Banned at Elche Stadium!
Elche CF has banned sunflower seeds for its fans in the stadium, citing an increase in rats and pigeons due to leftover shells.
According to reports, Elche CF, currently competing in Spain’s Segunda División, has prohibited fans from consuming sunflower seeds during matches. The club claims that discarded shells have led to clogged drainage pipes, increased maintenance costs, and attracted pests like rats and pigeons.
The ban will take effect starting from their upcoming home match against Levante on May 10. The club stated in an official announcement: “These shells block pipes, damage seats, affect paintwork, and significantly raise cleaning costs. They also attract rodents and birds.”
The club emphasized that the decision was not meant to punish fans but to maintain the stadium in optimal condition.
