Two New Injuries: Tottenham’s Sweet Night Turns Sour!
James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, Tottenham’s stars, suffered injuries during the match against Bodo/Glimt.
According to reports, Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham’s head coach, lost two of his attacking stars, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, due to injuries during the 3-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals. The club is now anxiously awaiting the results of their medical examinations.
Tottenham took an early lead in the match with Brennan Johnson’s header in the first 40 seconds. James Maddison then cleverly maneuvered past the Norwegian defenders to score the second goal. In the second half, Dominic Solanke converted a penalty for the third goal. The penalty was awarded after a VAR review confirmed a foul on Cristian Romero, and Solanke calmly slotted it home.
Just minutes after Solanke’s goal, Maddison collapsed on the pitch, immediately clutching his hamstring in clear discomfort. After initial assessments by the team physio, he decided to leave the pitch immediately without attempting to continue.
Interestingly, Maddison played a key role in Solanke’s penalty before his injury, holding off Bodo/Glimt defenders to give Solanke time to focus. However, about 10 minutes later, Solanke himself sat down on the pitch, grimacing in pain as he massaged his thigh, signaling another injury.
Tottenham was already dealing with injury concerns before this match, as Lucas Beryval, their young and talented Swedish midfielder, suffered an ankle sprain in training and was ruled out. Beryval, who recently signed a new contract with the club, was seen on the bench with crutches, a worrying sight for fans.
