Vitinha’s Penalty Miss Was Not Worthy of a Champions League Semi-Final!
Vitinha missed a crucial penalty for Paris Saint-Germain against Arsenal, failing to deliver the knockout blow to the London club.
According to reports, the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal has not differed much from the first leg. In the match held at the Emirates Stadium, PSG won 1-0 with a goal from Ousmane Dembélé and left London with a strong advantage.
In the return leg, despite some early attacks from Arsenal, PSG took the lead in the first half with a brilliant goal from Fabián Ruiz, putting them on the verge of reaching the Champions League final. Arsenal improved in the second half, but PSG remained dangerous on counterattacks.
In the 65th minute, Achraf Hakimi’s shot inside Arsenal’s penalty area deflected off Luis Suárez and reached David Raya. Initially, players on the field did not protest much, but moments later, referee Felix Zwayer stopped play and reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor. After a brief check, he immediately pointed to the penalty spot.
Vitinha stepped up to take the penalty but delivered a weak shot to the right, allowing Raya to save it easily and keep Arsenal’s slim hopes alive.
