According to reports, Barcelona and Inter Milan faced each other last night in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. In the end, it was Simone Inzaghi’s men who managed to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory, advancing to the final.

At the end of the first half, the VAR assistant reviewed a foul on Lautaro Martinez by Jules Koundé and instructed Marciniak to review the incident. The referee quickly decided to award a penalty to Inter, which resulted in their second goal.

However, opinions on the incident have been divided among experts and football fans. Many Barcelona players protested the Polish referee’s decision, and now Wenger has claimed that Marciniak should not have called it a foul.

He criticized the referee’s decision to award a penalty to Inter, telling beIN Sports: “I am completely against such penalties. I am also completely against the use of slow motion. At normal speed, this is a great challenge, and Koundé gets to the ball first.”

Wenger then pointed to Lautaro Martinez’s role in the incident: “Look at what he does. He leans into him (Koundé). He is looking for a penalty. He knows he won’t score because he feels his presence. In my opinion, the referee did not make the right decision in this situation.”
