Possible Absence in the Club World Cup
Jabi Alonso’s Doubt: Fear of a Big Defeat with Real Madrid!
Jabi Alonso does not want to experience defeat in his first step with Real Madrid and therefore may start his work with the team later.
According to reports, the current season has been a complete failure for Real Madrid. A team built to dominate European football will end the season without winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, or the UEFA Champions League.
Now, the club faces a new dilemma regarding its bench. Alonso is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti, the experienced coach who is leaving the club. However, the newspaper Sport claims that the new coach is reluctant to start his job before the Club World Cup and prefers to take charge of the team during the pre-season training camp.
While the club wants the new coach to start as soon as possible and be present at Valdebebas at the beginning of the summer, Jabi Alonso is hesitant. He has ended his successful tenure at Bayer Leverkusen but does not want to risk participating in his first tournament without sufficient preparation time, fearing defeat—and he has a logical reason for it.
The new Club World Cup, starting on June 18, will be held during a turbulent and challenging time for Real Madrid. Many of the team’s national players will be involved in World Cup qualifiers and UEFA Nations League matches leading up to the tournament. Under such conditions, with no time for training, no opportunity to convey tactical ideas, and no new players to strengthen the team, Jabi Alonso does not want to start his job with such a risk.
As a result, the club has activated its second plan: Santiago Solari will temporarily take charge of the team in the Club World Cup. This is a temporary solution so that Jabi can start his project from the beginning and have time to work based on his personal plan and philosophy. He knows very well that at Real Madrid, even one mistake is unforgivable, and he prefers to wait to start his job with full preparation.
