According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti has been selected as the head coach of the Brazil national team and will start his work from May 26.

Based on reports from The Athletic, the 65-year-old Italian coach will leave Real Madrid after their last match in the current La Liga season against Real Sociedad.

The Athletic confirmed that agreements have been finalized and contracts signed, making him the first foreign coach of the Brazil men’s national team.

Ancelotti had one year left on his contract with Real Madrid, but after friendly negotiations between all parties, represented by Diego Fernández on behalf of the Brazilian Football Confederation, the agreement was finalized.

Ancelotti, one of the most successful coaches in football history, is set to lead Brazil in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with the goal of securing Brazil’s sixth historic World Cup title, to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Ancelotti will replace Dorival Júnior in Brazil, who was dismissed in March after 14 months in charge. Ancelotti’s first match will be a World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on June 6.

Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in 2021 and has won two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his two stints with the club.

Real Madrid was eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal, lost to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last month, and currently trails Hansi Flick’s team by seven points in La Liga with three games remaining.
