Criticism of Bayern Munich: This Celebration Was Not Worthy of the Club
Dietmar Hamann, former Bayern Munich star, criticized the team’s trip to Ibiza to celebrate their Bundesliga title win.
According to reports, Bayern Munich reclaimed the Bundesliga title after Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw against Freiburg on May 4. Days later, Harry Kane and his teammates celebrated their victory with a 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Arena.
Initially, Bayern players planned a celebratory trip to Ibiza after securing the title, but sporting director Max Eberl prohibited it. However, after officially winning the championship, the club reversed its decision, allowing the trip under coach Vincent Kompany’s approval, who granted the players a two-day break.
However, this extravagant celebration has faced severe criticism. Hamann, one of the critics, strongly condemned the decision on Sky 90, saying: “If this trip was banned last week, why is it allowed now? I don’t even want to know why such a celebration style was permitted. The image Bayern is projecting right now is disastrous. This is about the dignity and integrity of the competition, and they have failed to uphold it.”
Kompany’s squad is set to face Hoffenheim away on Saturday in the final match of the 2024-25 season.
