Crystal Palace’s Loyal Captain Joel Ward Announces Departure After 13 Years
Joel Ward, the 35-year-old right-back of Crystal Palace, has announced his departure from the club at the end of the season after thirteen consecutive years of service.
According to reports, ahead of the FA Cup final clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, Joel Ward, the 35-year-old captain of Palace, officially announced his departure at the end of the season, marking the end of his 12-year tenure in London.
Ward, who plays as a right-back for Crystal Palace, joined the club in the summer of 2012 after leaving Portsmouth and has since made 363 appearances for the team.
Ward also holds the record for the most Premier League appearances for Crystal Palace with 305 games. In his first season, he played a key role in Palace’s promotion to the Premier League during the 2012-13 Championship season.
He said in an interview with the Premier League website yesterday: “It has been an incredible journey filled with beautiful memories and amazing moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I have been part of this club for a long time and feel like a member of a family. This is not a goodbye moment, and I hope to return to the team very soon.”
