Brazil’s President:
The Problem is Not the Coach, It’s the Players!
Luiz Inacio Lula, the President of Brazil, believes the national team currently faces a shortage of high-quality and creative players.
According to reports, one day after the official confirmation of Carlo Ancelotti as the head coach of the Brazil national team, which sparked significant reactions, Luiz Inacio Lula, the President of Brazil, made controversial remarks blaming the players for the recent failures of Selecao.
The President of Brazil stated during an annual forum in China: “Brazil’s problem is that the current generation of players is not as strong as before. If you compare them with past generations, you’ll see this group is more fragile. Just remember our attacking line in 2002 and 2006 to see how far we’ve fallen.”
These comments were directed at Brazilian media present at the event. Lula, who previously opposed hiring a foreign coach for Selecao, has now backtracked on his stance, stating he no longer follows that ideology, as reported by ANSA.
The official statement from the Brazilian Football Federation regarding Ancelotti’s appointment read: “The greatest national team in football history will now be led by the most successful coach in the world. Carlo Ancelotti has been named the new head coach of the Brazil national team. He will guide Brazil until the 2026 World Cup and will take charge in the upcoming playoff matches against Ecuador and Paraguay next month.”
