All Eyes on Amorim
Strange Pressure on Manchester United Manager: 491 Interviews!
The media pressure on Rúben Amorim is greater than on any other manager in the English Premier League.
According to reports, the English Premier League’s broadcasting agreement allows networks to conduct a 15-minute pre-match interview with team managers. However, Manchester United’s status as perhaps the most followed football club in the country has placed Rúben Amorim under more media scrutiny than most managers.
While TV networks sometimes do not use their full allocated time for interviews with managers of smaller clubs, they almost always utilize the entire slot for Amorim, often heavily promoting these interviews on social media, where they receive significant engagement.
Although Amorim is merely fulfilling his media obligations as required by Premier League regulations, the sheer volume of interviews is noteworthy. Internal sources at the club claim that Manchester United is doing everything possible to reduce these responsibilities, but the breadth of media commitments is so vast that significant reduction is practically impossible.
To illustrate the extent of media pressure on Manchester United’s manager, consider that 491 interviews have been conducted since his arrival in November last year (six months)—a staggering statistic.
Amorim has embraced many aspects of English football with a positive approach, but the constant media scrutiny has been one of the most challenging adjustments since leaving Sporting CP. Nevertheless, his focus is now on upcoming crucial matches, where the Red Devils will face Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday, followed by a decisive final against Tottenham in Bilbao on May 21.
