According to reports, Frank Schmidt, the coach of Bundesliga team Heidenheim, does not want to take Bayern Munich players’ controversial trip to Ibiza too seriously in the relegation battle. They will face Werder Bremen in the final matchday, competing with Heidenheim for survival.

Heidenheim’s coach told RTL: “I am completely relaxed about this. This is Bayern Munich—they have never given anything away to anyone, and they won’t now. There will be no underperformance; they will give their best, just as we must do first. We are focused on ourselves, and I am not here to judge whether this was good or bad. We will do our job.”

Heidenheim, ranked 16th in the table, still has a chance to overtake Hoffenheim in 15th place and stay in the league directly if they win against Werder Bremen in the final matchday. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim will host Bayern Munich, whose players traveled to Ibiza earlier in the week for a title celebration—a trip previously banned by the club’s management.

Schmidt added: “What we can influence is our own performance and result against Werder Bremen. Of course, in the second half, we will have to keep an eye on Hoffenheim’s match—there is no doubt about that. But in my opinion, the focus on Bayern is already very high.”

Schmidt also prepares his team for the possibility of a relegation playoff: “We embrace this opportunity and have a chance to stay in the league through two additional matches.” However, the 51-year-old coach does not want to think too much about it yet: “This week, we are only focused on the match against Werder Bremen. After that, when we know which team we will face, we will have enough time to prepare.”
