Kylian Mbappe's Red Card Benefits Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski may benefit the most from the disciplinary suspension imposed on Kylian Mbappe. After the French forward’s harsh tackle on Antonio Blanco of Alaves, which earned him a direct red card in the 37th minute of Real Madrid’s match, the Polish star now has a golden opportunity.

Mbappe is likely to miss Real Madrid’s next two La Liga matches: against Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday and three days later when Ancelotti’s team faces Getafe at the Coliseum.

Lewandowski has currently scored 25 goals, three more than Real Madrid’s striker, who has netted 22, with six of those coming from penalties, while Lewandowski has only scored three from the spot.

In total, Lewandowski has scored 99 goals for Barcelona, and this Tuesday in Dortmund, he has the chance to reach or surpass the 100-goal mark if Hansi Flick fields him, given that Barca won the first leg 4-0.

Otherwise, his next opportunity to reach 100 goals for Barcelona and extend his lead over Mbappe in the Pichichi race will be next Saturday against Celta Vigo at Montjuic Stadium.
