Official: Al-Ittihad and Benzema Win the Saudi Professional League
Al-Ittihad secured the Saudi Professional League title with a 3-1 victory over Al-Raed, clinching the championship two weeks before the season’s end.
Al-Ittihad defeated Al-Raed 3-1 in the 32nd round of the Saudi Professional League, securing the title under coach Laurent Blanc with two matches remaining.
The match began with an early goal from Al-Raed’s Omar Gonzalez in the 9th minute. Steven Berghuis equalized in the 21st minute, and Danilo Pereira scored the second goal for Al-Ittihad in the 40th minute, giving them the lead at halftime.
In the second half, Abdulrahman Al-Aboud sealed the victory for Al-Ittihad with a goal in the 47th minute, ensuring the title for the passionate fans.
The match ended 3-1, marking Al-Ittihad’s 15th Saudi Professional League title. With this win, Blanc’s team reached 77 points, securing the title even if they lose their remaining matches and Al-Hilal win all theirs.
Al-Ittihad last won the Saudi Professional League in the 2022-23 season, preventing Al-Hilal from defending their title. However, Al-Hilal remains the most successful club in the league with 21 titles.
Currently, Al-Ittihad leads the table with 77 points, followed by Al-Hilal in second place with 68 points (one game in hand), and Al-Nassr in third with 65 points.
This marks Karim Benzema’s first title in Saudi Arabia after leaving Real Madrid. Al-Ittihad also has the chance to win the domestic double if they defeat Al-Qadsiah in the King’s Cup final.
