According to reports, during the match between Palmeiras and Corinthians in the third round of the Brazilian Serie A, Palmeiras fans threw a chicken head onto the pitch.

This act is reminiscent of previous provocations against Palmeiras. One such incident occurred earlier this year in February: A pig’s head (an animal symbolizing Palmeiras and one of the club’s nicknames) was placed at one of the stadium entrances on matchday. Last season, a pig’s head was also thrown onto the pitch during a game at Corinthians’ stadium.

The situation became tense in the final minutes of the game. In the 33rd minute, the first chicken head was thrown into Corinthians’ penalty area and landed inside the goal guarded by Donelli. A few minutes later, referee Rafael Klein had to stop the game to remove another chicken head from the pitch.

Aside from this controversy, the match itself lacked excitement. In the 19th minute, Palmeiras took a 2-0 lead with goals from Joaquín Piquerez and Martínez. The scoreline remained unchanged, and the game ended with a 2-0 victory for the home team.
