According to reports, Manchester United’s Portuguese manager Ricardo Sá Pinto, who is already dealing with a series of bizarre crises, faced another setback this week: the injury of Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee was injured during the second half of Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat against Newcastle and had to leave the pitch. Sá Pinto expressed his disappointment after the match, hoping the injury wasn’t serious.

However, Sá Pinto’s hopes were dashed when BBC reported that medical tests confirmed Zirkzee’s injury is far worse than initially thought. The network stated that Zirkzee could be sidelined for up to six weeks, effectively ending his season.

The BBC noted that Zirkzee has suffered a severe hamstring injury. His absence will be particularly painful for Sá Pinto ahead of the Europa League clash against Lyon. After the 4-1 loss to Newcastle, the Portuguese manager described the Lyon match as a “do-or-die” encounter for his team. With no hope left in the Premier League, United is pinning its Champions League qualification hopes on winning the Europa League.
