Mandatory Rule: Hiring Saudi Coaches in Saudi Arabia!
Saudi football clubs are required to include a Saudi assistant coach in their technical staff starting next season.
According to a report by “Varzesh3,” the Saudi Football Federation has mandated clubs in the Roshn Saudi League, Yellow League (First Division), and Second Division to hire a Saudi assistant coach for their senior teams starting next season.
The circular sent to clubs states that hiring a second foreign assistant coach is permissible if clubs desire, provided they meet the technical requirements for each competition level.
For the Roshn League, the federation emphasized that the head coach and main assistant must hold an Asian Pro coaching license. The Saudi assistant coach must also have at least an A-level license, while foreign assistants need only an A-level license.
The circular also specifies that fitness coaches must hold a Level 2 fitness certification, while goalkeeper coaches and video analysts must have specialized qualifications in their respective fields.
For the Yellow League (First Division), the Saudi Federation requires head coaches to hold a Pro license, while assistant coaches must have an A-level license. Fitness coaches, goalkeeper coaches, and analysts must also possess relevant certifications.
The circular allows Second Division clubs to retain a foreign head coach’s assistant until the end of the season if the head coach is dismissed mid-season. However, if clubs opt for a complete technical staff overhaul, they must hire Saudi coaches.
Finally, the Saudi Federation has also mandated Third and Fourth Division clubs to appoint Saudi head coaches with an A-level license and Saudi assistant coaches with a B-level license.
