Absence in the Champions League Semifinal
A Moment of Madness Costs Arsenal Midfielder: Thomas Partey Suspended!
Thomas Partey will miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain due to suspension.
According to reports, Arsenal’s star midfielder received an unnecessary yellow card during the second leg of the quarterfinal against Real Madrid, resulting in his suspension for the first leg of the semifinal.
In the 85th minute, Antonio Rüdiger, who had been aggressive throughout the match—stepping on Miles Lewis-Skelly’s abdomen and intentionally fouling Mikel Merino—was finally shown a yellow card.
Rüdiger’s behavior angered Partey, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the Arsenal midfielder also receiving a yellow card. Having already been booked against PSV Eindhoven in the Round of 16 and in the first leg against Real Madrid, Partey’s latest booking means he will miss the first leg of the semifinal.
Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain on April 29 or 30, with the second leg scheduled for May 6 or 7, where Partey will be eligible to return to Mikel Arteta’s lineup.
