Anger of Flick and Barcelona over La Liga’s new schedule
With the announcement of the new schedule by La Liga, Barcelona will have only 70 hours of rest before the return leg against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
According to reports, La Liga has set the match against Real Valladolid on Saturday, May 3rd, at 21:00. This scheduling leaves Barcelona with very little recovery time.
If the scheduling of the match against Leganés last Saturday had already upset Barcelona (the team played against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday), Hans-Dieter Flick’s anger is likely to increase upon hearing La Liga’s new schedule.
La Liga has scheduled the Valladolid-Barcelona match for Saturday, May 3rd, at 21:00. This means Barcelona will have only 70 hours to rest before the Champions League semi-final return leg against Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
Hans-Dieter Flick had previously expressed surprise at La Liga’s criteria for scheduling matches. His reaction in Friday’s press conference, ahead of Barcelona’s match against Celta on Saturday, could be noteworthy. The match against Valladolid was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 4th, at 14:00, but due to the Champions League semi-final return leg scheduling, La Liga was forced to change the plan and move it to 21:00 on Saturday.
