Pavard Doesn’t Want Bayern Fans to Hate Him
Inter Star’s Apology to Bayern: I Love You!
Benjamin Pavard, who eliminated Bayern Munich from the Champions League while wearing Inter Milan’s jersey, sent a message to his former club’s fans, apologizing to them.
According to reports, Inter Milan drew 2-2 against Bayern Munich at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Wednesday night, securing their place in the Champions League semifinals. The Nerazzurri had previously defeated Bayern 2-1 at the Allianz Arena a week earlier, making the draw in the return leg sufficient to eliminate the German side.
In this week’s match at San Siro, Bayern took the lead with a goal from Harry Kane, but Lautaro Martínez equalized. The decisive second goal for Inter, which secured their advancement, was scored by Benjamin Pavard.
The French center-back, now in his second season with Inter, had previously spent five seasons with Bayern Munich. Pavard joined Bayern from Stuttgart in the summer of 2019 and played 150 matches for the club, becoming a fan favorite.
This is why Pavard published an apology to Bayern fans today: “FC Bayern was the club that allowed me to reach this level. This club was my home for years. I will never forget being the player who was allowed to wear Bayern’s No. 5 shirt and follow in the footsteps of a legend. Bayern fans, my joy after scoring in an Inter shirt was the joy of a child who scored in a Champions League quarterfinal. My goal was never to disrespect Bayern fans. I love you.”
