Sergio Ramos taunts Monterrey goalkeeper: ‘I’ll chip it, catch it!’
Despite scoring a goal for Monterrey, Sergio Ramos couldn’t help his team avoid defeat.
Sergio Ramos scored again in the Mexican League but couldn’t prevent Monterrey’s defeat against Tigres in the Clásico Regio.
The Spanish defender put his team ahead with a penalty in the 51st minute after Diego Lainez fouled Nelson Deossa in the box, resulting in a red card for the Tigres player.
Before taking the penalty, Ramos engaged in mind games with Tigres’ goalkeeper, who turned his back to show confidence. Ramos laughed and even asked if the keeper wanted him to chip the ball, though he ultimately scored with a powerful low shot.
Despite having a numerical advantage, Monterrey soon found themselves down to nine men after red cards to Germán Berterame and Oliver Torres, making their task much harder.
Tigres equalized through Sebastián Córdova in the 90th minute and won 2-1 with a 95th-minute header from Ibáñez. Ramos nearly equalized with a free kick in the 100th minute but couldn’t convert.
Ramos’ third goal in Liga MX
This was Ramos’ third goal in Liga MX, having previously scored against Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul. Monterrey remains ninth with 22 points, while Tigres climbed to fourth with 29 points.
