Manchester United Option Gains Momentum
Dutch Star Xavi Simons Dreams of Barcelona Return
Xavi Simons is eager to wear the Barcelona jersey again and continue his football career at the club.
Xavi Simons has played in 29 matches across all competitions for RB Leipzig this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists. His performances have not gone unnoticed by Europe’s top clubs, with Barcelona and Manchester United among those monitoring the 20-year-old star for potential summer transfers.
However, any club interested in signing him will likely need to pay his €75 million release clause. After RB Leipzig’s 1-1 draw against Holstein Kiel, Simons spoke to Sky Sports about his future, giving cautious yet revealing comments suggesting his career path may soon change.
He said: “I’m still a young player with many dreams. The club knows this. But right now, the most important thing for me is the upcoming matches. After that, we have national team competitions, and then we’ll sit down and see what happens.”
Mundo Deportivo claims Simons’ heart still beats for the club where he developed. He spent nearly a decade at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy between 2010-2019 and has never hidden his affection for the club.
Although a return to Camp Nou remains Simons’ preferred option, Barcelona’s financial limitations make this transfer difficult. Accordingly, Fabrizio Romano reports that a move to the Premier League with Manchester United appears more likely, with the Red Devils keen to sign the Dutch star this summer.
