Van Dijk: Everyone at Liverpool is unaware of Alexander-Arnold’s future
Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s captain, has asked fans to applaud Trent Alexander-Arnold’s outstanding performance against Leicester City.
According to reports, Trent came on in the 70th minute of the match against Leicester City and scored the winning goal with a stunning half-volley. He has faced severe criticism from some fans in recent weeks and has been linked with a potential free transfer to Real Madrid.
Van Dijk commented on the situation: “Outside the club, there has been a lot of talk and speculation about how to deal with Trent, but such moments should not be taken lightly.
Whatever decision he makes in the future is up to him and his family; but for now, he is a Liverpool player and is very important to us. He has been a key player throughout the season and has now returned after a long injury and shown his effectiveness again. Since I joined this club, he has been an exceptional player, and even if he leaves, he will leave behind great memories.”
The Liverpool captain emphasized: “Right now, we really don’t know about his future. There is a lot of noise around him, and everyone can judge whether he is to blame or not; but this is part of life today. When he scores such a beautiful goal in such a moment, he deserves applause. These moments should not be overlooked. Whether he stays or leaves, these moments give us the opportunity to finish the job. He deserved this moment. Now we have to work hard again and prepare for the next match.”
Van Dijk also spoke about Liverpool’s chances of winning the title early: “It doesn’t matter to me when we become champions; my only wish is to win the English Premier League and make this dream come true. I would love to lift this trophy with the club I love. If it doesn’t happen on Wednesday, celebrating the title on Sunday at our home with our amazing fans will be incredible. The fans should be excited. We have a big game against Tottenham ahead of us, and after that, we will have exciting matches.”
