Al Sadd on the Verge of Domestic Double
Qatar’s most decorated team has advanced to the final of the Qatar Cup.
Al Sadd advanced to the final of the Qatar Cup after defeating Al Ahli 3-0 in the semifinals. The match took place on Tuesday evening at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, home of Al Sadd.
Goals for Al Sadd were scored by Mitrović (an Al Ahli player who accidentally scored an own goal), Tarek Salman, and Rafa Mújica in the 30th, 76th, and 82nd minutes, respectively.
Al Sadd will now face the winner of the match between Al Duhail and Al Gharafa in the final, scheduled for next Saturday. The other semifinal will be played tomorrow (Wednesday).
The first half of the match was of high quality, with both teams taking turns controlling the game. However, Al Ahli created more dangerous opportunities and missed several key chances that could have changed the course of the match.
In the second half, Al Sadd performed better and secured two more goals to seal the victory, while Al Ahli struggled to resist Al Sadd’s attacks.
