Manchester City Star’s Strange Habit: I Don’t Watch Football!
Matheus Nunes, Manchester City’s star, revealed that he does not watch football outside of matches.
Manchester City’s Portuguese midfielder, Matheus Nunes, who scored a crucial late goal against Aston Villa to bring his team closer to another Champions League qualification, stated that he has no interest in watching football.
Nunes, who joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton for $60 million in 2023, said: “I really don’t watch football. The reason is that our daily lives are already full of football. It’s like working with a computer all day—when you get home, you don’t want to touch it again.”
Nunes prefers to relax by watching Netflix instead of football. Previously, players like Ben White, Gareth Bale, Carlos Tevez, and Benoît Assou-Ekotto have also admitted they don’t watch football regularly.
Nunes, praised by Pep Guardiola for his performance in an unusual right-back role, also discussed his team’s success. He believes winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League is not enough for Manchester City: “Definitely not, we know that. The standards at this club are much higher. Especially for players who have been here for a long time and are used to fighting for titles.”
Manchester City will face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday and, sitting third in the Premier League with four games remaining, aims to reach their third consecutive final in the competition.
Nunes continued about City’s situation: “This is our current reality, and we must accept it. We have to fight for it, just like winning the Champions League or the Premier League. It’s a journey, like a rollercoaster, and we must be ready for it. Now, as the season progresses, our goal has changed, and the Champions League must be our main target. We will fight to achieve it.”
