Barcelona President’s Message to Fans
Laporta: Don’t Celebrate Too Soon, We Haven’t Won Any Titles Yet
Joan Laporta says he trusts Hans-Dieter Flick and his team to win the treble, but warns that nothing has been achieved yet as no trophies have been secured.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, was warmly welcomed by fans during his visit to the city center for the Sant Jordi celebration. While fans gathered to take photos with the club president, Laporta used the opportunity to send a message to all Barça supporters, three days before the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid.
Laporta said: “The atmosphere is great. People are very excited, and I enjoy seeing that.”
Barcelona is enjoying a sweet spell. Flick’s team leads La Liga by seven points over Real Madrid, though they have played one more game. They are also in the Champions League semifinals and will face Real in the Copa del Rey final. Fans believe their team has a strong chance of winning the treble.
Laporta acknowledged Barça’s chances of a treble but urged fans to avoid premature celebrations. He said: “We must trust the coach and the players. Personally, I am confident that under Hans-Dieter Flick’s leadership and with these brilliant players, we have a chance at the treble. Barça is playing very well now, but let’s remember that nothing has happened yet, and we haven’t won any titles. Anything can happen in a final, but we all trust the team. I don’t mean to dampen the mood. I’m just saying we haven’t achieved our goals yet. People are excited? That’s great. Let’s keep it that way.”
