New Evidence Revealed in Diego Maradona’s Murder Case

During the trial investigating the death of Diego Armando Maradona, a controversial audio file was played, shedding light on some ambiguities surrounding the football legend’s death.

New Evidence Revealed in Diego Maradona's Murder Case

According to reports, the audio file reveals that Agustina Cosachov, Maradona’s psychiatrist, advised Leopoldo Luque, his primary physician, to remove their involvement in the decision for home hospitalization from Maradona’s medical records to avoid legal responsibility. This audio, recorded on November 10, 2020, is part of new evidence presented in the recent court session, addressing the controversial decision to keep Maradona under home care after his brain surgery in November 2020.

Maradona underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma at the Olivos Clinic near Buenos Aires on November 3, 2020, and remained hospitalized until November 11. He was then transferred to a house in Tigre to continue his recovery. This decision, now under investigation, has been described by prosecutors as “sentencing Maradona to death,” given his underlying health conditions requiring specialized hospital care.

During the court session, Ana Marcela Weisman Campos, another psychiatrist connected to Maradona’s medical team, testified. She stated that Maradona had refused her treatment at the Olivos Clinic. Weisman also referenced her conversations with Cosachov, discussing Maradona’s condition. The key piece of evidence was Cosachov’s audio advising Luque to alter medical records, suggesting that Maradona’s family, aware of the risks, had opted for home care to shield the doctors legally.

The plaintiffs argue that not transferring Maradona to a hospital or rehabilitation center, despite his complex medical condition, effectively placed him at risk of death. Previous court sessions revealed that a meeting was held at the Olivos Clinic with family members, doctors, representatives from Swiss Medical insurance, Luque, and Cosachov, where two options were discussed: continued treatment at a rehabilitation center or home care. The choice of home care, which was ultimately implemented, is now criticized as a key factor in Maradona’s death on November 25, 2020.

This new evidence, including the audio, raises serious questions about medical decision-making and hidden motives, adding complexity to the case of the Argentine football legend’s death. The trial continues to investigate the precise responsibility of those involved.
