Darwin Nunez Deletes Controversial Post Against Arne Slot
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez responded to Arne Slot’s comments but later deleted his post on social media platform X.
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez reacted to manager Arne Slot’s comments about his poor performance this season with a post on X, but quickly deleted it.
Nunez wrote in the post: “No wonder I didn’t play more, because the last time I was fixed in the Premier League, it went well and suddenly…” Despite deleting the post from his account, the message continues to circulate in the media.
According to reports, if the 25-year-old Nunez is fixed for one more game in the Premier League or the Champions League, Liverpool will have to pay an additional €5 million to Benfica, bringing his total transfer fee from Benfica in the summer of 2022 (€75 million) to €90 million.
When asked about this issue and the possible influence of financial matters on his decisions, Slot firmly replied: “Do you always believe what journalists say? Me neither. Sometimes it’s true, but sometimes it’s better not to believe everything you read about players. This is completely new to me.
I have said many times that I work in a club with an excellent working environment. Having a good working environment is very important to me, and this is something I feel with Richard Hughes (Liverpool’s sporting director). The last thing he would tell me is that if you play him, it will cost us this much. He would never do that.
I don’t know if this is true or not, I haven’t talked to Hughes about it. He never interferes in my choices. It might be true, but if a journalist says something, you have to be balanced.”
This incident has fueled rumors about Nunez’s potential departure from Liverpool at the end of the season and suggests that Slot may be considering ending his cooperation with the striker.
