With this outstanding performance and the season nearing its end, uncertainty about the striker’s future has increased, especially due to his unusual contract with Milan. The story began in 2022 when Real Madrid acknowledged their investment in Jović (€63 million paid to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019) had failed and released him to Fiorentina for free to avoid paying his hefty wages.

Part of the agreement was that Fiorentina would pay half of Jović’s future transfer fee to Real Madrid. However, just a year later, when Fiorentina sold Jović to Milan for only €500,000, Real Madrid was far from pleased.

At Milan, Jović signed one of the strangest contracts in football: a three-year deal that makes him a free agent at the end of each season, with an extension only possible if both parties agree.
