PSG Files Complaint Against Arsenal: Not Enough Tickets!
Paris Saint-Germain is furious with Arsenal after the London police ordered a reduction in the number of tickets allocated to their fans for the upcoming UEFA Champions League semifinal.
Paris Saint-Germain will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal.
The two teams previously faced each other in the group stage at the Emirates, where the hosts comfortably won 2-0. Now, PSG returns to London with the aim of avenging that defeat and securing their first Champions League final appearance since 2020.
However, they will have fewer supporters than usual due to a reduced ticket allocation. The French club initially received 3,000 tickets for their fans during the group stage in early October.
This number represents five percent of the Emirates Stadium’s capacity, as required by UEFA regulations. However, PSG’s ticket allocation for this week’s match has now been reduced to 2,500.
This decision was made on orders from the Metropolitan Police in London for security reasons. Concerns reportedly stem from broken seats during the previous encounter between the two teams, although PSG has emphasized that they covered the repair costs.
PSG has lodged a complaint with UEFA against Arsenal, but despite the club’s official protest and UEFA’s review, the ticket allocation will remain at 2,500. PSG officials also attempted negotiations with local London authorities to increase the allocation.
However, these efforts were unsuccessful, and PSG’s management is highly dissatisfied with the timing of these decisions. Arsenal had initially negotiated to allocate 3,000 tickets to away fans before the police intervened.
A meeting held last Thursday also failed to resolve the impasse, leaving PSG confused about the reasons behind the ticket reduction. Tensions have also arisen regarding next week’s return leg in Paris, with PSG planning to reduce Arsenal’s ticket allocation.
