Neymar’s Request Denied: Controversial Podcast to Continue
A court in São Paulo has rejected Neymar’s request to halt the release of a biographical podcast about his life and controversies.
A court in São Paulo has rejected a request by Neymar, the Santos FC player, to suspend the release of a podcast detailing the life of the Brazilian star and surrounding controversies.
The Brazilian website Universo Online released the first 44-minute episode of its podcast titled “The Neymar Project: Success or Failure?” on YouTube. Despite the current Santos player’s request for an immediate injunction, the São Paulo court denied the former Al Hilal star’s plea.
The website explains that the podcast covers the first part of research into Neymar’s ambitious marketing project, initiated by Santos FC to transform this talented player into an icon.
It provides exclusive access to an original PowerPoint presentation, internal emails, and interviews with key figures, portraying Neymar’s father and agent as a greedy and intimidating businessman in the football world who tightly controls his son’s decisions.
According to the website, future episodes are expected to feature “interviews revealing confidential and undisclosed details from the player’s professional career.” The website also added that it has recorded “email exchanges, WhatsApp conversations, and promotional contracts.”
For these reasons, Neymar sought to prevent the continuation of this podcast series and submitted his request to the court, which was met with a negative response.
The São Paulo court issued a statement on the matter: “The consent of the person concerned is not required for the publication of literary works and biographies.”
However, the court gave Neymar five days to appeal the initial decision.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player, and Brazil’s all-time top scorer, returned to his childhood club Santos earlier this year after a disappointing spell at Al Hilal, where he missed most games due to injury, hoping to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
But the 33-year-old has yet to regain his previous form. According to journalists, Neymar was invited to participate in the podcast but did not respond.
