According to reports, Barcelona’s board, led by president Joan Laporta, convened for a routine meeting at Nike’s headquarters in Barcelona on Tuesday, ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg match against Inter Milan. Senior club members gathered at the iconic ‘La Rotonda’ building in the Catalan capital to discuss various topics related to the club’s current situation and their collaboration with Nike.

The meeting was held to “confirm alignment and coordination with the club’s main sponsor,” following the extension of their partnership until 2038. This agreement, which began in 1998, will bring “a new model of strategic collaboration between the two organizations,” according to an official statement from Barcelona.

Barcelona stated: “Barcelona and Nike signed their first sponsorship agreement in 1998 and have since shared a deep commitment to innovation, creativity, and striving for excellence, both on and off the field. They have experienced over four decades of extraordinary football. Additionally, Barcelona’s women’s team has established itself as a benchmark in women’s football.”

Although it once seemed that Joan Laporta intended to end the collaboration with Nike, relations between the American company and Barcelona eventually improved, resulting in a new agreement. Sources close to the club have revealed that both parties have exciting plans for the coming months, which will be unveiled soon.
