Clarence Seedorf:
Arsenal Lost Due to Their Own Silly Mistakes
Clarence Seedorf criticized the performance of Arsenal players, especially Jurrien Timber, against Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports, Timber had a disappointing performance in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium. The Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia repeatedly bypassed his opponent, and the Arsenal defender was lucky not to receive a yellow card in the first half for multiple fouls.
Seedorf, a former AC Milan star who was present as an analyst on Amazon Prime, strongly criticized Timber’s performance. While slow-motion replays of Timber’s repeated fouls were being shown, Seedorf said: “You have to know when to press, when you can’t, and when you should hold back.
Especially against PSG players who are full of skill and quality. What I saw was that Arsenal players made very silly mistakes while pressing. You shouldn’t make such foolish mistakes. Everything was under control, you were pressing well—this is where you should maintain the pressure, not ruin everything with an unnecessary foul. Especially when the opponent was already stretched.”
Seedorf also commented on the overall match at the Emirates: “PSG did exactly what I expected Arsenal to do. For Arsenal to truly become a championship team, they need to change their mentality. PSG was the team I expected Arsenal to be—they executed high pressing in the best possible way.”
