Muller: Bayern Munich Never Had Such Unity Even Under Flick!
Thomas Muller, Bayern Munich forward, believes that the current harmony within the team surpasses even that during Hansi Flick’s tenure.
According to reports, Thomas Muller, in an interview with Bundesliga’s official website, discussed whether reaching 500 league appearances was just a number or proof of an achievement. He claimed it was a historic milestone and something he takes pride in.
Muller stated: “Looking back, there are many great experiences, especially playing for Bayern Munich, where we’ve won so much.”
He added: “The team is on the right path, and we must acknowledge the transitional phases we’ve been through. Since Pep Guardiola, there hasn’t been such coordination between the coach and players. Yes, we had a very successful period under Hansi Flick, but even then, there were disagreements between the coach and management, so the complete harmony we see this season wasn’t there.”
“I remember one season under Tuchel when we clinched the title in the final match with Jamal’s goal. In the last few weeks, when we fell behind, we crumbled, but I don’t recall feeling that way this season. We always fight, whether we win or not, and that’s the beauty of football.”
Muller also reflected on Bayern Munich’s 125th anniversary and the club’s progress: “In the Champions League, we improved, always being a threat but not a main contender until 2010. Van Gaal shaped an era with Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Robben, and Ribéry, changing the style of play. Then, under Jupp Heynckes, we achieved incredible success, winning the treble in 2013. Pep Guardiola transformed German football, and we established ourselves among the elite.”
On the Club World Cup: “Yes, we will win it. I hope so.”
