According to reports, Al Hilal has ended its collaboration with Jorge Jesus, the Portuguese coach of the club. This decision was made after Al Hilal’s elimination from the AFC Champions League, as reported by the official account of “Ajel Al-Riyadiah” on Thursday.

Al Hilal was eliminated in the semi-finals of the competition after a 3-1 defeat against Al Ahli in the classic match. This loss further complicated the situation for Al Hilal under the leadership of the 70-year-old Jesus.

Previously, Al Hilal had also been eliminated from the King’s Cup, and now their chances of defending their title in the Saudi Professional League have diminished, as they are six points behind the league leaders Al Ittihad with five weeks remaining.

According to sources close to the club, Al Hilal has temporarily entrusted the team to Mohammed Al-Shalhoub, a former star and current assistant to Jesus, until they finalize an agreement with a top international coach.

Al Hilal faces many challenges in the coming weeks, including five remaining league matches and participation in the Club World Cup, which will be held in the USA next June. Al Hilal will face Real Madrid in their first match of the tournament.

This is the second time Jesus has been dismissed from his position at Al Hilal. In his first stint from January 1 to June 30, 2018, he led the team in 21 matches, achieving 16 wins, 4 draws, and only one defeat. His most significant achievement during that period was winning the Saudi Super Cup.

In his second tenure, from July 1, 2023, to May 1, 2025, Jesus managed Al Hilal in 99 matches. During this period, he won four titles: an undefeated league championship, a domestic cup, and two Super Cups. Al Hilal recorded 80 wins, 10 draws, and 9 losses in these 99 matches.
