Without Ancelotti and possibly Xabi Alonso from July, Real Madrid will need a new coach for the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid's Coach for Club World Cup Confirmed

According to “Varzesh3,” Real Madrid’s management is planning for a strong presence in the Club World Cup, which will be held in a new format for the first time. This tournament, supported by FIFA and Gianni Infantino, holds special significance for Real Madrid. President Florentino Perez wants the team to compete at full strength and prefers not to have an interim coach. However, the current situation suggests this may happen, as the season extends until mid-July, an unusual time for teams.

Despite Perez’s wishes, having a permanent coach in the U.S. seems unlikely unless Carlo Ancelotti’s situation changes completely—something currently unrealistic.

If Ancelotti leaves, Xabi Alonso, who has reportedly given a verbal commitment to succeed him, will be the main candidate. However, given the time constraints, it is unlikely Alonso, still coaching Bayer Leverkusen, would take over a team with players who may not fit his plans next season.

According to Marca, Santiago Solari has been chosen as the interim coach for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup.

Solari, who previously coached Real Madrid in 32 matches during the 2018-19 season, has worked with players like Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric, Vinicius Junior, Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Brahim Diaz, and Dani Ceballos, giving him a good understanding of the team. After 15 months coaching Club América in Mexico (December 2020 to March 2022), he returned to Real Madrid and now serves as one of the club’s senior executives.

Regarding Raúl González, the coach of Castilla, although he considers himself in the “right place,” the club believes his future is not with Castilla. However, his departure from Real Madrid is not on the table, and Álvaro Arbeloa is seen as his potential successor at Castilla. But Raúl is not currently considered for the Club World Cup coaching role.

Florentino Perez and Real Madrid’s management are determined for the team to compete strongly in this tournament. Players like Lucas Vázquez and Modric, who may leave at the end of the season, are also aware of the importance of this goal. Everyone at Real Madrid knows the team must shine in this competition. Solari, with his experience and knowledge, is ready to take on this responsibility if needed.
